Regulations of the International Mountain Race «Shagan Tau Marathon – 2026»

1. Goals and objectives

• promotion of running;
• preparation of runners for international marathons;
• promotion of local tourist attractions;
• building a healthy nation;
• development of mass sport;
• promotion of a healthy lifestyle among residents and guests of the Jetisu region and rejection of harmful habits.

2. Race management

Overall management is carried out by the «Jetisy jastary» state institution and the «Koksu jastary» branch. Conducting the race is entrusted to the approved panel of judges.

3. Place and time

The race takes place on 27 June 2026 at 07:00 in the village of Aktekshe, Koksu district, Jetisu region.

4. Distances and age categories

6 km (women): 18–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50 and older.

6 km (men): 18–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50–59; 60 and older.

13 km (men): 18–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50 and older.

13 km team relay: men 18–45.

5. Conduct on the course

Participants are not allowed to:

• run side by side, two or more in a row;
• occupy the left side of the road when switching to walking.

A participant must:

• follow the instructions of judges, organizers and other persons supporting the race;
• if feeling unwell, stop participating and move to the roadside without obstructing other participants.

A participant may be disqualified for breaking the rules.

Note. Participants of the 13 km distance must descend back to the 6 km mark on their own after finishing. Return transport for participants (for both 13 km and 6 km) is organized from the 6 km mark.

6. Grounds for disqualification

Organizers have the right to remove a participant in cases of:

• starting before the official signal;
• starting after the start zone is closed;
• absence of a start number;
• failure to follow instructions of organizers, judges or the chief doctor;
• running a distance for which no application was submitted;
• absence of the official race number, or if the number is hidden by clothing;
• shortening the distance, deviating from the route, or other rule violations.

7. Panel of judges

The panel of judges ensures compliance with the rules, fair sporting competition, and objective determination of winners. The panel includes:

Chief judge

• distributes duties among the judges;
• submits a written report to the organizing committee after the race.

Chief secretary

• processes protocols and results;
• prepares information materials for judges, participants and spectators;
• compiles the final report on the race results.

Start/finish zone judges

• monitor compliance with the rules at the start;
• oversee the distribution of participants by clusters;
• record the first 10 finishers and pass the data to the chief judge.

Chief race doctor

• supervises the work of medical staff and volunteers;
• has the right to withdraw a participant from the course on medical grounds.

Professional athletes and specialists may be invited to join the panel of judges.

8. Financing

• the costs of organizing and holding the race are borne by the organizing committee;
• the costs of medals, diplomas, cash prizes and decorations are paid by the organizers;
• travel, accommodation and meal costs are borne by the sending organizations or by the participants themselves.

9. Awards

Winners and prize-takers are awarded valuable prizes, medals and letters of gratitude from the «Jetisy jastary» state institution. If two participants finish simultaneously, the prize is split equally.

13 km distance (categories 18–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50+):

6 km distance (men and women) — in all age categories:

13 km team relay (team — 4 men aged 18–45):

10. Team relay rules

• team composition: 4 men;
• total distance: 13 km;
• legs: 1st — 4 km, 2nd — 3 km, 3rd — 3 km, 4th — 3 km;
• each participant runs their leg and passes the baton to the next;
• the team with the best total time wins;
• starting a leg without receiving the baton is prohibited;
• the baton is passed only in the specially designated zone;
• participants must observe safety requirements.

11. Documents for registration

Mandatory to upload electronically on the shagan.run web portal:

• upload a copy of the identity document;
• sign the declaration completed using the established template (Appendix №2) with an SMS or email code.

To collect the start packet, you must show staff:

• the original identity document or its electronic version in egov/kaspi;

12. Application procedure

Registration is completed online at shagan.run until 12:00 on 24 June 2026: fill in the application form, upload a copy of your identity document to your personal account, and sign the declaration with an SMS or email code. After registration closes, applications are not accepted.

From 24 to 26 June, start packets are issued in Taldykorgan at 47 D. Kunaev Street («Jetisy jastary» building, reception). To collect your packet, present the original identity document or its electronic version in egov/kaspi.

Attention: participants who have not completed online registration and have not met the requirements for uploading data and entering correct personal information are not allowed to compete.

DECLARATION

Dear organizers of the International Mountain Marathon «Shagan Tau Marathon – 2026»! I request to register me as a participant of the mountain marathon to be held on 27 June 2026, for the ______ km distance.

By this declaration I confirm that my state of health allows me to participate in the race in high-altitude conditions, and that I have undergone a medical examination.

The rules of the mountain marathon and my rights as a participant have been explained to me. I am aware that participation in the mountain marathon involves various risks and dangers, and I understand the need for good physical preparation. Therefore, in the event of an injury or other physical harm during the race or after its completion, I have no claims against the organizers of the «Shagan Tau Marathon – 2026» mountain race and will not demand compensation for material damage, moral harm, or transport costs.

If participating in the 13 km distance, I agree to descend to the 6 km mark on my own after finishing, and I am aware that return transport for participants of the 13 km and 6 km distances is provided starting from the 6 km mark.

This declaration is written voluntarily and by my own hand.
